It's also the part no chat window will ever do, because a screenplay isn't text — it's a document that has to survive a production: locked scene numbers with A/B suffixes, colored revision passes with asterisks in the margin, standard pagination where one page is one minute, a .fdx that opens cleanly on someone else's Final Draft.

Add the connector

Authorize in your browser
Claude opens a ShotClick page and asks for your permission. You approve, it gets a token. No key to copy, no password shared — and if you're not logged in, you get sent to the login and back again on your own.

Free script generators give you a summary of a film.
You fill in a form, press a button, and get a PDF. It reads flat, because tension and character motivation don't survive being generated in one shot.
ShotClick works the other way around: subject → treatment → outline → screenplay, with you deciding at every step. Open a timeline branch from any scene and write the alternate version in parallel, compare both on the canvas, keep the one that works. No other editor does this.
Then, when it's done, it leaves the way a script is supposed to leave: numbered, revised, .fdx.

- Which clients work?
- Anything that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP: Claude Desktop and claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor and others.
- Do I need my own API key?
- No. Authorization happens through OAuth in your browser — you never paste a password or a token. If you automate things with scripts, you can generate a ShotClick API key instead, and revoke it whenever you want.
- Does the connector burn AI credits?
- No. The connector reads and writes your script; the writing itself is done by your assistant, on your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. ShotClick credits are only spent by the AI features inside the app, and every one of those shows its cost before it runs.
- Can it break my script?
- It writes through the same rules you do — numbering, revisions and permissions all hold, enforced on the server, not in the browser. A Viewer stays a Viewer, even through the connector. And no tool can delete anything: the worst it can do is rewrite a scene.
- Does the AI own what it writes?
- Your text stays yours. Two-step email verification, autosave, and a full local backup on every save.
