Read the project
Every scene, or one at a time with typed blocks. It answers about your script, not a summary you pasted into a chat.
list_projects · get_project · get_sceneYour AI, inside the actual script
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor — any MCP client — to your ShotClick account. They read your scenes, write new ones and save research notes directly in the script, with locked scene numbers, colored revision passes and Final Draft export still intact.
Writing is free, forever. The connector: 14-day free trial on every new account, then Studio (€24.99/mo).
Ask Claude for a scene and you get text in a chat window. Then you paste it somewhere, fix the formatting, renumber, mark the revision, export, and do it again tomorrow.
That copy-paste loop is the actual job. It's also the part no chat window will ever do, because a screenplay isn't text — it's a document that has to survive a production: locked scene numbers with A/B suffixes, colored revision passes with asterisks in the margin, standard pagination where one page is one minute, a .fdx that opens cleanly on someone else's Final Draft.
ShotClick doesn't replace your AI. It's the surface your AI writes on.
Every scene, or one at a time with typed blocks. It answers about your script, not a summary you pasted into a chat.
list_projects · get_project · get_sceneSubject, treatment and outline, with each beat's status. The whole project, not just the screenplay.
get_documentsProper slug lines, character cues and dialogue. Formatted on arrival; revision marks and numbering hold. Plus "what if": your AI opens a timeline branch from any scene and writes ending B in parallel, without touching the original.
add_scene · update_scene · create_branch · create_projectAppend beats to the outline, draft the subject or treatment. Overwriting a non-empty document requires an explicit flag — no accidental losses.
add_outline_beat · update_documentFind any line across the script; see who speaks, how much, and in which scenes.
search_project · list_charactersNotes attach with their source link. Comments come back with the author's name — never their email.
add_research_note · list_research_notes · list_commentsRoles and permissions are respected: a Viewer stays a Viewer, even through the connector. And no tool can delete your work.
In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste the ShotClick MCP endpoint.
https://shotclick.ai/api/mcpClaude opens a ShotClick page and asks for your permission. You approve, it gets a token. No key to copy, no password shared — and if you're not logged in, you get sent to the login and back again on your own.
“Read my project SHORT FILM and write scene 14 — Marta finds the letter. Keep it under a page.”
Works with any MCP-compatible client. Prefer scripting? Generate a ShotClick API key in your settings and use that instead — it's stored hashed and revocable at any time.
Real prompts to type into your assistant once the connector is linked. Reading works right away; writing requires the Owner or Editor role on the project.
“List my ShotClick projects and give me the loglines of the scenes in SHORT FILM.”
“Read scene 14 of SHORT FILM and rewrite it: same beats, half the dialogue.”
“Write the treatment of SHORT FILM from the subject, then add the outline beats.”
“Who talks the most in SHORT FILM? Find every scene where Marta mentions the letter.”
“Look at the keyframe of shot 3 in AI Studio and write me a video prompt that matches it.”
You fill in a form, press a button, and get a PDF. It reads flat, because tension and character motivation don't survive being generated in one shot.
ShotClick works the other way around: subject → treatment → outline → screenplay, with you deciding at every step. Open a timeline branch from any scene and write the alternate version in parallel, compare both on the canvas, keep the one that works. No other editor does this.
Then, when it's done, it leaves the way a script is supposed to leave: numbered, revised, .fdx.
